Which confession or denomination do you belong to?

I want to emphasize that it is difficult to trust and understand an interlocutor without any “labels” nowadays. Now I’ll make it clear. Also you can read the article in Russian.

Does the argument that me or you are a Christian shed some light on your faith and beliefs? The believers (the Christians) are systematized today: for example, a Catholic, an Orthodox, a Protestant and so on. According to the Dvorkin A. L. book “Sectarianism”, there are a ton of different confessions. They can be confusing.

A little bit of terminology from Wikipedia: denomination, confessions

Ddenomination

A Christian denomination is a distinct religious body within Christianity, identified by traits such as a name, organisation, leadership and doctrine.

Individual bodies, however, may use alternative terms to describe themselves, such as church or sometimes fellowship.

Divisions between one group and another are defined by authority and doctrine; issues such as the nature of Jesus, the authority of apostolic succession, eschatology, and papal primacy may separate one denomination from another.

Groups of denominations—often sharing broadly similar beliefs, practices, and historical ties—are sometimes knowzn as «branches of Christianity» or «denominational families».

Confession

A religious denomination is a subgroup within a religion that operates under a common name, tradition, and identity.

The term refers to the various Christian denominations (for example, Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and the many varieties of Protestantism).

It is also used to describe the four branches of Judaism (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist).

Within Islam, it can refer to the branches or sects (such as Sunni, Shia, and Ahmadiyya), as well as their various subdivisions such as sub-sects, schools of jurisprudence, schools of theology and religious movements.[

And there the question comes – what if you are not in any of the confessions lists?

Give the report in your hope

15. but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
(1 Peter 3:15)

As the Apostle Peter said, the Christian has the responsibility in the hope besides the kind hearth. Once adopting such the report, it is possible to make certain conclusions.

In the article, I suggest you to review my report in the hope. I hope that after reading the report you’ll be able to figure it out and personally define a formulation (of confessions) of my faith and beliefs suitable for you.

We are the Christians

26. and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
(Acts 11:26)

If you take a long time to study the Bible, to serve God in the church, for example, in your apartment, a hall or a house – you are called a Christian.

There is only one wording for you and your actions when following the things described above.

Worship

I serve God in the assembly of the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

On the Sunday service, there is the pre-defined list of men who’ll be leaders of the Divine service.

An approximate plan for Sunday’s ministry is this:

  • Singing: we sing without music on the song-books.
  • Common prayer: one person prays.
  • Chanting.
  • Preaching is about 20 to 40 minutes.
  • We are singing to God.
  • Prayer and Communion: we bake bread without yeast ourselves, buy grape juice or squeeze it. We follow the example of Jesus was going to the last time with the disciples.
  • We sing together.
  • Prayer and donations.
  • Singing again.
  • Final prayer: before it we voice requests and wishes to know what to pray for during the next week.

About the assembly of the city of Nizhny Novgorod

Christians gather to study the Bible every week. In addition, there is an opportunity to study the Holy Scripture through the Internet: Skype, e.g.. We conduct the site.

We don’t have a head organization we send money to. Our assembly is independent of the assemblies in other cities. Moreover, there is no additional literature, like legends, magazines, prophecies.

We speak Russian, in the case of a foreign language — an interpreter helps. One person prays, the others listen, and prayer usually ends with the words: «In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!».

I preach crucified Christ with my Savior. I consider myself a member of the Church of Christ.

So, what kind of denomination or confession?

Christians were and are not denominational, in the Bible. The Bible explains itself and if someone begins to read it, then one will not find another order of things that was given by Jesus and the Apostles. There is a New Testament, believers in Christ are Christians.

A man creates a bicycle himself, and when the Bible tells us that it will not go, then we are in different way opposed to it.

We can argue with the Bible on how best to build a bicycle and get such an answer:

Matthew 22:15: «Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words.»
Matthew 22:35-36: «And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”»
Matthew 15:1-3: «Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” 3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?«

Will you give up human teachings and denominations to join us the one and only Church of Christ?
